You Are A Writer. You Just Need To Write.
The Simple Yet Profound Writing Advice From Jeff Goins's You Are A Writer
Have you lost your way in your writing journey?
Chances are you have forgotten to write for the love of writing.
From what I understand, most of us want to become writers because we want to write. Plain and simple.
Yes, we would love to make it a full-time career.
Yes, we would love to write books readers love.
Yes, we wouldn't mind being a best-selling author.
Yes, we would love to have our books turned into movies and shows.
But when the spark to become a writer ignited inside us, it was just for the love of words and the impact these words can have.
As we start on the writing journey, we get so lost in the goal or milestone we want to achieve that we forget the joy we got from the act of writing.
I got so busy being a content creator that I forgot to enjoy the process of creating the said content.
And that is why I lost the joy of writing completely.
Instead of writing for the sake of writing itself, I was writing for the sake of deadline, readers and algorithms.
This realisation made me revisit one of my favourite quotes from Jeff Goins's book, You Are A Writer (So Start Acting Like One)
You are a writer. You just need to write. It's time to kill the excuses and start writing. Time to become a writer again. Not a marketer or an entrepreneur. Not a blogger or businessperson. A writer. A real one.
This is such a simple yet profound message.
Just write. Write because you are a writer.
