Medium Is Not Paying Me, But I Am Still Writing There
Here Are Four Reasons Why
Medium is not paying Indian writers at the moment.
And the way Medium is going right now, writers who are allowed to earn through the platform are not in good luck.
But I am still writing and publishing my work there.
Here are four reasons why you should still consider writing on Medium -
Readers Galore
Medium does not publish official user stats but, according to different sources, the platform has about 60 million monthly visitors. That's quite a number.
For writers, it means having the opportunity to share your work with that many people. Of course, all 60 million wouldn't read your work simultaneously, but at least some will.
The focus always comes down to writing quality content. Which can help you find readers. Which then can help you create your email list. Therefore, helping writers like you find their supporters and maybe future customers.
Metrics and Instant Feedback
With the claps and comments, and the access to metrics, you as a writer can quickly figure out what's working and what's not.
Distraction and Ad-Free
At least, at this moment, Medium is a distraction and ad-free.
Its clean and crisp layout doesn't let readers lose focus from the main content. That's a blessing all content creators pray for.
Testing Ground For Your Niche
As a new writer, you don't know what your niche is. What is that you can write that readers would love to read. Medium is a great testing ground for that.
One look at my metrics, and I know my short stories are being enjoyed more than my non-fiction content.
Does this mean you should place all your eggs in the Medium basket? I don't think so.

Those who have been using Medium for some time now will know that Medium is going through a difficult time.
The metrics have dipped. So has the income. And many Medium-famous writers are leaving the space. But that shouldn't deter you from using this platform.
Every platform has its highs and lows. Medium is now at its low. Which means, maybe, it'll rise again. And if you're there, you can take full advantage of it.
Even if you don't earn an income, the four reasons mentioned above are worth giving Medium a shot.
