Day 25: Let Your Inner Child Remind You To Live And Enjoy The Present Moment
Follow along my Ship 30 for 30 journey as I learn what it means to be a writer in this digital age.
I made a soul-threatening mistake.
I forgot about my inner child.
In trying to be an adult, cope with the pressure of the present and make my future, I forgot to take care of the Little Rubina who resides in me.
I didn’t do this intentionally. I didn’t even know I was making a mistake. It wasn’t until I had an emotional breakdown last month that I realised I didn’t take care of Little Rubina’s needs.
When you think about it, what does a child need from their caretakers?
Love. That’s all.
And in trying to give myself the best life I could, I forgot to love myself. I forgot to love Little Rubina.
Not anymore.
Little Rubina now sits on my desk as a constant reminder that while it’s fun and necessary to go after the life we want, it’s equally important to live and enjoy the present moment.
