Day 19: 1 Tip I Wish Someone Gave Me When I Started Working On Figuring Out My Life
Follow along my Ship 30 for 30 journey as I learn what it means to be a writer in this digital age.
When I started working on figuring out my life, I felt overwhelmed.
I had to figure out my writing career. I want to find a solution for my irregular periods. I wanted to lose my excess weight. I wanted to know who I was and what I wanted in life. And I had to stay social and friendly while doing that.
Not to mention that the loss of my cousin made me question Life and Death and the meaning of both.
What made things even harder for me was being hard on myself.
I blamed myself for not being disciplined enough, strong enough and good enough. No matter what I did, I was a failure. It looked like I would never be able to live a happy life.
That is when I realised that the attitude I took was harming me.
Being hard on myself made me my worst enemy. I was thinking, acting and behaving against myself.
No wonder I wasn’t winning.
So what’s the attitude I should have picked up?
I had to be my own best friend.
When you are your own best friend, you are kinder to yourself.
You are understanding, and you help yourself figure a way out. You also try to make the atmosphere around you light with your silly jokes and make breathing easier for yourself.
When you win a milestone, you celebrate yourself. And when you fall, you pick yourself up and dust it off.
When you are your own best friend, you realise when you are in high energy to pull off any adventure. You also notice when you are tired and sit down to take a moment.
You are your own philosopher, guide and cheerleader when you are your best friend.
And when you do this, you will eventually win.
